There are of course no guarantees of this, but a 5% growth in mechanic jobs is predicted for the year 2018.

Once you find employment, you should note that your salary will go up as you gain more job experience. In mechanic shops, seniority is a big factor in pay. Starting off you may make between $10 an hour to $17 an hour – the national average for 2009. The upper tier of employees for that year earned $20 an hour or more, and those that were self employed saw a vast range of earnings. You are the biggest key to your own success.
